Bailey Pitts, Massage Therapist
Bailey’s bodywork career began as a student of yoga, eventually receiving my 200-hour yoga teaching certificate at Portland Community College in 2022.
Since then, Bailey has been guiding an integrative yoga class in partnership with the Portland Psyche del1c* Society and PNW Integrative Center.
Bailey states, “My studies led me to becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist with an interest in movement, Ayurvedic theory, and craniosacral techniques.
These studies have inspired my life’s mission; to create space for investigation, sensation, and to feel as in your body as often as possible. I am interested in making space for your body to move comfortably through the world.”
Offerings - 60 minute, 90 minute, or 120 minute sessions
Myofascial Release - myofascia is a web-like structure surrounding the muscle and bone. This structure is made up of thousands of pathways the central nervous system (CNS) uses to communicate with the rest of the body. Releasing this structure can help with freedom of movement, postural improvements, and pain relief. I do like to utilize active movement to ask the muscle for more release and relaxation.
Deep Tissue is actually under the umbrella of myofascial release. The intention is to access those tissues that are under the top layers of soft tissue. This is not just about more pressure, this is about working with those deeper layers to promote relaxation & release of holding patterns.
Craniosacral - while this modality is gentle, it is classified as deep tissue work. The intention here is to connect with the rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid running through the membrane of the brain and spinal cord. This fluid is how the CNS communicates with the fascial web described above. This modality works to influence balance in this rhythm.
Ayurveda - this is a medical term originating in India & based in the science of living in harmony with nature. At the core of this school of thought is that the body has the power to heal itself & is about restoring elemental balance as opposed to elimination of symptoms.
Add Hot Stones to any massage - These are heated basalt stones, hand picked by me from around the PNW. They are used skin to stone and great to target particularly tense areas to help with circulation and relaxation.
Longer sessions available upon request.
